Caffeine- The bitter, white crystalline xanthine alkaloid caffeine is found in tea, coffee, soft drinks, chocolates, pain relievers, and a variety of over the counter medications. It is a psychoactive stimulant drug that causes increased alertness by stimulating the central nervous system. For the same reason, many people feel more energetic after consuming it. It even elevates the mood but these effects do not last for long. The effects of caffeine usually last for about five to six hours, though caffeine sensitivity varies from person to person. It has been found that people who consume lot of caffeine on a daily basis soon develop less sensitivity and may need to increase their intake to enjoy the same effect. Being a diuretic, a person consuming caffeine may have to urinate more often.
Citrus Aurantium, More commonly called "bitter orange", which is taken from unripe oranges. Research shows that citrus aurantium can increase the metabolic rate without affecting heart rate or blood pressure, breaks down fat, burns calories and may act as an appetite suppressant.
Synthetic Guggulsterones are derived from a herb, commiphora mukul, which has been proven to restore lagging metabolic rate brought about by dietary caloric deficiency, such as a diet low in carbohydrates. Though it has cholesterol lowering ability, it is also known as powerful weight loss agent due to the increased conversion of the inactive thyroid hormone T4 into its active part T3 in the liver. Furthermore, Guggulsterones are also known to stimulate the thyroid directly by enhancing TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) production. This is especially true for two specific guggulsterones codenamed Z and E.
Yohimbe is an alkaloid and the active ingredient of a medicinal herb also known as Pausinystalia yohimbe, formerly named Corynanthe yohimbe. It is noted as a stimulant drug and also as an aphrodisiac. While the medicinal community has conducted numerous studies of yohimbe in conjunction with sexual dysfunctions, in veterinary medicine, yohimbine is employed as the antidode to anesthesia stemming from the drug xylazine in large and small animals. In recent times, yohimbine has been found to instigate fat loss in athletes when taken orally. There are also some formulations available, for a significant price, where yohimbine can be directly applied transdermally to adipose tissue, leading to a local reduction. This application is still in experimentation and should not be used without professional assistance.
